Why buy BDR hardware appliances from Axcient?
Axcient BDR for ShadowProtect delivers your choice of flexible local backup and disaster recovery implementation solutions.
Some partners choose to purchase hardware through a separate vendor and build out local BDRs with the help of Axcient's BDR Builder tool to aid their BDR software setup. This is a great route if you have a hardware vendor with competitive pricing and a team to build out and set up each BDR appropriately.
Immediate, long-term value: While “BYO” local BDR works for some Axcient partners, many do not have the time or resources to select, provision and setup their own local BDRs. These partners have turned to Axcient for a solution and we’ve responded by providing turnkey BDR appliances that not only realize immediate value though cost savings, time savings and streamlined setup but also deliver long-term value through steadfast reliability, unrivaled warranty and world-class support.
Customize: You can choose from five preconfigured hardware appliances and then customize with additional storage and memory as needed. We’ve been building Axcient BDR for ShadowProtect appliances since 2010, so purchasing BDR hardware appliances from us has many benefits including:
- Competitive hardware pricing
- Reliable, top of the line hardware components such as Asus and Kingston
- Preconfigured ShadowProtect, ImageManager and Axcient Cloud Backup software
- Online hardware monitoring and lights out management
- Affordable customization of memory and storage to meet your business needs
- 3-year warranty on new purchases
- World-class Axcient support
Noteworthy 2016 Upgrades
With the 2016 update, models retain their form factor but receive new hardware components and updated software packages.
Motherboards:
- Extremely reliable Asus motherboards (Models P9D-MV and Z10PE-D16)
- ** From – StorageCraft – 2014 “…We favor motherboards by Asus over all others. They cost a bit more, but they have proven to be the most reliable motherboards we’ve sold. Asus tends to hold back offering bleeding edge features until the bugs have been worked out which is a departure from some brands who rush boards to market.”
Faster data transfers:
- USB 3.0 – 10x faster data transfer speeds than USB 2.0
- Dual I210 Gigabit Ethernet ports – doubles queues from previous generation
Memory: Kingston memory is now used in DDR3 and DDR4 formats
CPU: All models have been upgraded to Intel Haswell Processors
(i3-4330 | Xeon E3-1231 v3 | Xeon E5-2620 v3)

Lights Out Management
Using ASUS's ASMB6-iKVM, you will be able to remotely manage your BDR including the ability to toggle power, use keyboard/mouse redirection, share virtual media, mount remote disk images, and even boot to a remote disk without ever needing physical access to your server.
The ASMB6-iKVM module offers advanced server management functions including remote OS installation, remote power on/off/reset, remote hardware health monitoring and system event log.
For more information on what this feature allows you to do, see the ASMB6-iKVM documentation.
