What is a High Availability Environment?
By default, the x360Sync Server Installer installs a single x360Sync, Apache, and database server on one machine (physical or virtual). The basic recommended server requirements for this type of environment can be found in the x360Sync Architecture Overview Knowledgebase article.
For advanced private cloud environments—intended to support a high number of users—it is recommended that you configure a high availability (HA) environment, where the Apache server and PostgreSQL database server are installed on separate machines, and x360Sync is replicated on multiple machines.
When Would I Need a to Configure High Availability?
For large-scale environments, a high availability environment eliminates a single-point of failure on the server level (virtual or physical), allowing for distribution of load across multiple servers.
