Hardware Requirements for Backup for Files
The software is not resource-intensive and is able to effectively run on both legacy and modern hardware. The minimum requirements are:
- x86 or x64 compatible CPU (Intel, AMD, etc.)
- 256 Mhz processor
- 128 MB RAM
- 30 MB disk space + 10 MB disk space for every 1 GB that you backup
- Internet connection
The recommended minimum system requirements are:
- 1 Ghz processor
- 256 MB RAM
- Internet connection with upload speeds of at least 300 kbit/sec.
Note that our data centers do not throttle incoming bandwidth. You can optionally rate limit the bandwidth by adjusting the software options in the backup manager, but our data centers will accept all data as fast as you can send it.
Operating System Requirements for Backup for Files
The software supports a wide range of operating systems, including:
- Windows 98 / Me / 2000 / XP / Vista / Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1, Windows 10
- Windows NT4, Server 2000, Server 2003, SBS 2003, Server 2008 (including R2), SBS 2008, Server 2012 (including R2)
- Windows Home Server (must configure backup not to use VSS)
