This Knowledgebase article provides detailed instructions for uninstalling the perpetual edition and installing the MSP edition of ShadowProtect.
IMPORTANT: If you are using a Zenith BDR and want to switch to the MSP edition of ShadowProtect, you must reload Windows and then reconfigure the BDR appliance. For assistance, contact Support.
Exporting Backup Jobs from the Registry
To preserve your backup jobs, export your ShadowProtect backup jobs from the registry before uninstalling the perpetual edition and then import the backup jobs into the registry after reinstalling ShadowProtect.
IMPORTANT: All ShadowProtect backup jobs are tied directly to the ShadowProtect Service in the Windows registry. If you uninstall the perpetual edition of the ShadowProtect software prior to exporting the backup job from the registry, then your backup jobs will be lost.
To export the ShadowProtect backup jobs from the registry, refer to the Knowledgebase article entitled Export and Import ShadowProtect backup jobs.
Uninstalling ShadowProtect
The perpetual edition of the ShadowProtect software must be uninstalled on each server and desktop that is using bare-metal backups. It is not necessary to uninstall the software on the BDR appliance.
To uninstall the perpetual edition of ShadowProtect software, use the Uninstall a program option in the Windows Control Panel.
Installing the MSP Edition of ShadowProtect
After uninstalling ShadowProtect, install the MSP edition of ShadowProtect.
When switching to the MSP Edition of ShadowProtect, Axcient recommends upgrading ImageManager to version 6.5.4 (or later). For more information, review the instructions for installing and configuring ImageManager 7.x.
Importing ShadowProtect Backup Jobs
After installing the MSP Edition of ShadowProtect, import the backup jobs by referring to the Knowledgebase article entitled Export and import ShadowProtect backup jobs.
Activating the MSP License with a New Key
After you have installed the MSP edition of ShadowProtect, you need to obtain activation/license keys. The MSP edition of ShadowProtect requires that a separate license key be used to activate each agent (server or desktop).
To re-activate the ShadowProtect for MSP license, perform the following steps:
